I just finished watching the season premier of syfy's newest show. Here check it out. Haven season 1 episode 1 "Welcome to Haven"
Based on the novella The Colorado Kid from renowned author Stephen King, follows FBI agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose), who arrives in the small town of Haven, Maine to solve the murder of a local ex-con. Before long, her natural curiosity lands her in the epicenter of activity in this curious enclave, which turns out to be a longtime refuge for people with a remarkable range of supernatural abilities. Among the townspeople are local cop Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant), who eventually becomes Audrey's partner, and the mysterious and charming Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour).1
I not going to put down any spoilers about the episode. I can tell you though that as a sci-fi and supernatural geek I did find this to be quite entertaining. I can't wait to watch more episodes this season. It's based on something Stephen King wrote. I mean seriously that should be enough said. STEPHEN KING

ThinkGeek :: Caffeine & Edibles
ThinkGeek :: Caffeine & Edibles
ThinkGeek has been one of my favorite websites to buy stuff when I get "that craving". Oh yes I pretty sure you know ALL about it..."that craving". What I'm here to talk about is ThinkGeek's Caffeine and Edibles section. I have often scoured this section buying all kinds of knick-knacks to try. They have mana potions and health potions, caffeinated mints, candy, gum, soda, drinks, beef jerky(best I ever tasted), etc. They also have quite a selection of bacon products such as bacon popcorn(seriously), bacon mints, candy, even preserved canned bacon lol. Recently I aquired some think gum and miracle berry tablets. Think gum helps improve concentration and makes it easier to think clearly. It's helped me greatly on a test I didn't even study for. Can you say "A":) The miracle berrys change your taste buds temporarily. They make sour/bitter foods taste sweet and regular foods taste more flavorful. The lasting affect was about 30min-1hr. Pretty interesting stuff. Now there is plenty of other things on there. Go ahead check it out. Maybe you'll find something you like.

I love many different types of anime, but the original dragonball is what I grew up on and the 1st anime. There have been many speculations and rumors about DBAF back in 1997 after the end of DBGT. It was found out to be an April Fools joke and many fans were saddened. Toriyama (the creater) has publicly stated that he has no intentions of continuing the series, but still fans say that eventually db will be back. There are plenty of Fanfics and dojins that have sprang up from the AF joke, but none being the official work of Toriyama. I have come across one dojin by Toyble. It's just started but I can already tell it's going to be really good. His art is almost on Toriyama level and in some parts I couldn't even tell it was a dojin. If you like Dragonball you have to check out Toyble's Dragonball AF. http://blog.livedoor.jp/toyble/ is toyble's site. It's in japanese...sadly I don't know enough japanese to read the raws.
http://desirecampbell.com/project/dbaf/ Desire Campbell has been putting the translated DBAF up on here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Origin of the months
Fun fact time.
While in Spanish i came to the realization that the months September, October, November and December came from 7, 8, 9, 10. I knew Octo was Latin for eighth. I wondered why they were representations 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th. Well obviously I googled it when I got home and here is what I found out. The names of the month actually come from the Romans.
January
Named after the Roman god of beginnings and endings Janus (the month Januarius).
February
The name comes either from the old-Italian god Februus or else from februa, signifying the festivals of purification celebrated in Rome during this month.
March
This is the first month of the Roman year. It is named after the Roman god of war, Mars.
April
Called Aprilis, from aperire, "to open". Possible because it is the month in which the buds begin to open.
May
The third month of the Roman calendar. The name probably comes from Maiesta, the Roman goddess of honor and reverence.
June
The fourth month was named in honor of Juno. However, the name might also come from iuniores (young men; juniors) as opposed to maiores (grown men; majors) for May, the two months being dedicated to young and old men.
July
It was the month in which Julius Caesar was born, and named Julius in his honor in 44 BCE, the year of his assassination. Also called Quintilis (fifth month).
August
Originally this month was called Sextilis (from sextus, "six"), but the name was later changed in honor of the first of the Roman emperors, Augustus (because several fortunate events of his life occurred during this month).
September
The name comes from septem, "seven".
October
The name comes from octo, "eight"
November
The name comes from novem, "nine".
December
The name comes from decem, "ten".
So originally March was the beginning of the year. Who knew?

DMFA
DMFA otherwise known as Dan and Mab's Furry Adventures is one of my favorite web-comics. The comic follows the anthropomorphic adventures the group living at lost lake inn. The artist Amber M. Williams(formerly Amber M. Panyko) is top notch. I've been reading the comic since my friend first got me into it back in freshman year of high school. It's a comic she thought up of while playing the MMOG Furcadia. I think it started out with a bet and if she lost she'd make a comic of her friend's character Dan. He kept insisting that she follow through and she has been making ever since. If you look back the first comics she did in black and white and the current one, you can tell that her art has greatly improved. Amber does have a sister site that she puts random art on but it isn't as frequently updated sadly. It's a highly addictive web-comic and I suggest you check it out you might like it.
DMFA is hosted on http://xepher.net/ a free web hosting service for artists and anyone with a knack for creativity. Comics, music, stories, artwork, photography, etc are included on this service. All you have to do is submit a portfolio and keep up with constant updates. A good place to show off what you can do or to look at what others are doing.
Online Manga Scans
Read Free Manga Online at One Manga. Online manga scans reader.
Image via WikipediaOne of my favorite sites to read Manga. They're quick on the updates and have a huge collection to choice from. They two new features recently. A mobile version, which is handy for me because I'm always on my iPhone and it's a quick way to get my fix anywhere. The other feature is the beta version on the site. I use it often because I can bookmark my favorite mangas and it keeps track of what chapters I've read. Keeping track was a hassle for me, back in the day, because I'd read so many different ones. Right now my favorites are Bleach, One Piece, and Naruto. Full Metal Alchemist just finished up. I loved both versions of FMA animes. I can never get enough FMA. Now they did have a problem a while back with mature/suggested series and had to take them off. Recently they created a sister site(not as fancy looking) that has them on there. There is a link to it on One Manga. Some people might think it's bad to read manga online instead of
buying them. They claim the author isn't getting any money. Well that maybe true. But I know that there are a few people like myself that like to crack open a manga or any book and get a peak to see if we like it. Why buy something your not going to like? I read my manga and watch my anime online. But I also buy my favorites. I have a whole book self 7 feet tall full of anime and mangas. I fully support the artists with as much as i can. If the artist don't get any money can expect them to keep drawing and writing?

The start of a new blog...
The word geek is a slang term, noting individuals as "One who is perceived to be overly obsessed with one or more things including those of intellectuality, electronics, etc." A person with a devotion to something in a way that places him or her outside the mainstream. This could be due to the intensity, depth, or subject of their interest. This definition is very broad but because many of these interests have mainstream endorsement and acceptance, the inclusion of some genres as "geeky" is heavily debated. Persons have been labeled as or chosen to identify asphysics geeks, mathematics geeks, engineering geeks, sci-fi geeks, computer geeks, various science geeks, movie and film geeks (cinephile), comic book geeks, theater geeks, history geeks, music geeks, art geeks, philosophy geeks, literature geeks, historical reenactment geeks, 2012 geeks, video game geeks, and roleplay geeks.(2)
These are a couple of my favorite definitions. This blogs is a representation of my interest and obsessions. I have many "geeky" passions. Examples I am going to school for programming, software engineering. I love art and music. I have a steady collection of comics and video games. You can see where I'm going with this. If you have a few geeky interest yourself, keep checking in and i might just keep you somewhat entertained.
